Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
The short version
Mute does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Everything you write, every setting you choose, every moment of quiet you track — it all stays on your device. We have no servers. We have no analytics. We have no interest in your data.
Data Collection
Mute collects no personal data whatsoever. Specifically:
- —We do not collect your name, email, or contact information
- —We do not collect usage analytics or behavioral data
- —We do not collect device identifiers or fingerprints
- —We do not collect location data
- —We do not collect the content of your letters or vows
- —We do not collect information about your contacts
Data Storage
All data generated by Mute is stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage mechanisms. This includes:
- —Your quiet period settings and duration
- —Letters you write to yourself
- —Contact blocking preferences
- —App shielding configurations
- —Archived photos (stored in your device's photo library)
This data never leaves your device. There is no cloud sync, no backup to our servers, no transmission of any kind.
Third-Party Services
Mute does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Facebook SDK, or any similar tools. The only external service interaction is with Apple's App Store for purchase verification, which is handled entirely by Apple and subject to their privacy policy.
Permissions
Mute may request the following device permissions, all of which are used only for local functionality:
- —Contacts — To enable call blocking for specific contacts. Contact data is processed locally and never transmitted.
- —Photos — To archive photos to a hidden album. Photos remain in your device's local storage.
- —Notifications — To provide optional breathing reminders. Notification preferences are stored locally.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, deleting the Mute app will permanently remove all associated data. There is nothing to request deletion of from our end, because we never had your data to begin with.
Children's Privacy
Mute does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app stores all information locally on the user's device.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our privacy practices, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Given our commitment to local-only data storage, we do not anticipate material changes to this policy.
